The final Christmas countdown has begun so it’s the perfect time to add some festive holiday activities to your math centers. These playful Christmas time clip cards are a motivating way to practice telling time to the hour and quarter hour.
To prep, I simply printed out the Christmas time clip cards on cardstock for durability and laminated them so that I could use them year after year.
There are two sets of cards – one set tells time to the hour while the second set focuses on time to the quarter hour.
I chose the first batch but you could pick either.
To make the cards a self-checking activity, I placed a small sticker or dot on the back of the correct answer. When students clipped their answer later, they could turn the card over and see if they picked the correct spot.
Christmas Time Clip Cards
This activity was great for practicing and reinforcing telling time to the hour and/or quarter hour.
Students drew a card from the stack and read the time on the clock.
Then they clipped the correct time with a festive Christmas tree clothespin.
(Paperclips, pom poms or counters would work just as well.)
Students flipped the card over to make sure they picked the right answer and then pulled out the next card in the batch.
