Roll a Rainbow

· · · · · ·

Roll a Rainbow is a fun count-and-color game that’s perfect to use as a math center or just-because activity.  As kids race to fill their rainbow with red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, they count (or instantly recognize) the numbers one through six.

This rainbow counting game is so entertaining, little mathematicians won’t even notice that they’re building important math skills!

Getting Ready

The prep for this rainbow counting game was as quick and easy. I printed the free printable (below), cut down the middle of the page to separate the half sheets.  Then, I grabbed a pack of crayons and die.

Such a fun preschool game. Roll a rainbow math activity!

Big Brother (age 6) LOVES dice games, so he was excited to jump in and play. He picked up the die and rolled it on the table: a one!

Big Brother found the “one” on his sheet and read the direction out loud.  “Color red,” he said.  He grabbed the red crayon and colored the top band of the rainbow.

So fun! Roll a rainbow preschool math game.

One roll after the next, Big Brother fancied up his rainbow.

I love this roll a rainbow game! Such a fun math game or math center for preschool.

Because there were only five bands on the rainbow, he colored the clouds purple when he rolled a six. You could easily have kids swap that by coloring the clouds blue and the bottom band purple. It’s up to you!

With this rainbow counting game, you’ll see your little one learn their numbers in no time!
